Nichola -Graphich Design Artist

Paul Rand born in 1915 in Brooklyn, NY was an American graphic design artist known for his corporate logo designs for companies such as UPS, IBM, ABC and Westinghouse.  Rand was educated at Pratt Institute and taught design at Yale University.  Rand taught himself mostly everything he knew and expressed an interest in design from childhood.  In his early twenties his work drew international attention, especially through his design covers of Direction magazine. Rand embraced the idea of “defamiliarizing the ordinary” and this played and important role in his design techniques. Rand was inducted to the NY Art Directors Club Hall of Fame in 1972. In 1996 Rand died of cancer in Norwalk, CT.
